Update: July 31 – 5.2 magnitude earthquake reported close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia

Thursday evening, a 5.2 magnitude quake was recorded near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook the area at 09:10 UTC (20:10 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter located approximately 178 km southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.3 event, but later downgraded it to 5.2.
