A 5.0 magnitude quake shook near Coquimbo on Friday around midday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 17:47 UTC (12:47 local time). The epicenter was about 76 km west of Coquimbo, at a depth of 12 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.1 but later downgraded to 5.0.
