Update: Seismic activity on July 27 – 5.3 magnitude earthquake close to Höfn, Iceland registered

A 5.3 magnitude quake was detected close to Höfn Sunday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor hit the area at 23:40 UTC (23:40 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 104 km west-northwest of Höfn and occurred at a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.0 but later upgraded to 5.3.
