A 5.3 magnitude quake was reported near Lata Thursday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which struck the area at 06:34 UTC (17:34 local time), was centered approximately 34 km east-southeast of Lata. It occurred at a depth of 113 km.
