Update: Seismic activity on July 20 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake near Mid-Atlantic Ridge detected

A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Mid-Atlantic Ridge on Monday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor hit the area at 21:29 UTC (18:29 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was north of Mid-Atlantic Ridge and occurred at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.
