TAPACHULA, Chis. — A 5.3 magnitude quake occurred close to Puerto Madero on Friday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which struck the area at 15:14 UTC (09:14 local time), was centered approximately 93 km southwest of Puerto Madero. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.

Last week, there have been three quakes of magnitude 2.5 or above centered nearby. The largest, measuring 7.3, occurred close to Aquiles Serdán prior to this quake.
