A 5.1 magnitude quake was recorded close to Pariaman Sunday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was reported that a tremor hit the region at 15:35 UTC (22:35 local time). The epicenter was situated about 90 km west of Pariaman, at a depth of 49 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.0 event, but later upgraded it to 5.1.

Over the last week, one more magnitude 5.0 earthquake was detected nearby, also occurring close to Pariaman six days earlier.
