A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Auckland Islands on Wednesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor struck the area at 06:44 UTC (17:44 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was of Auckland Islands and occurred at a depth of 13 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.2 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.
