EL QANTARA EL SHARQIYA, Ismailia Governorate — A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Suez on Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit at 00:00 UTC (03:00 local time), with its epicenter approximately 42 km north-northeast of Suez and a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.3 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.
