EL QANTARA EL SHARQIYA, Ismailia Governorate — A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Suez on Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
At 00:00 UTC (03:00 local time), a tremor rattled the region at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter about 36 km north-northeast of Suez. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.3 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.
