YELIZOVSKY DISTRICT, Kamchatka Krai — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake rattled near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky at midday on Friday.

The tremor, which hit the area at 23:48 UTC (11:48 local time), was centered about 83 km east-northeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It occurred at a depth of 74 km.
