A 5.0 magnitude quake shook near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on Friday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 09:12 UTC (20:12 local time). The epicenter was roughly 172 km southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of 10 km.

There has been one tremor of magnitude 4.5 centered in the area. It was recorded close to Vilyuchinsk on Aug. 27.
