A 5.5 magnitude quake jolted near Bitung on Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor shook the area at 23:13 UTC (08:13 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was approximately 116 km east-southeast of Bitung and occurred at a depth of 35 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.4 event, but later upgraded it to 5.5.
