At 4 a.m. Saturday, the National Hurricane Center released its first advisory of the day for the system, stating that Tropical Depression Fay is in the Atlantic Ocean, 1,115 miles west-southwest of the Azores. Packing maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, it is tracking to the west-southwest at 3 mph.

“A turn to the south-southwest is expected to occur, followed by an increase in forward speed,” forecasters wrote. They also said “Little change in strength is forecast over the next several days.”
