Oct. 9: Earthquake measuring 5.2 shakes region near Río Grande, Panama

SONÁ DISTRICT, Veraguas Province — A 5.2 magnitude quake hit close to Río Grande on Friday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which struck the area at 19:48 UTC (14:48 local time), was centered roughly 11 km southeast of Río Grande. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
