SAINT-FRANCOIS, Grande-Terre — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 6.5 magnitude quake struck close to Beauséjour Monday morning.
It was reported that a tremor shook the region at 12:38 UTC (08:38 local time). The epicenter was situated roughly 161 km east of Beauséjour, at a depth of 9 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 6.8 but later downgraded to 6.5.
