Update: Oct. 21 – 5.1 magnitude earthquake reported close to Vilyuchinsk, Russia

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake jolted close to Vilyuchinsk on Tuesday around midday.

The tremor shook the area at 23:37 UTC (11:37 local time). It occurred at a depth of 72 km with the epicenter located about 58 km southeast of Vilyuchinsk.

Last week, the region has experienced three tremors of magnitude 2.5 or above. The biggest, a 4.9 magnitude quake, was detected close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky one day ago.
