The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Drake Passage around midnight Thursday.
It was reported that a tremor hit the region at 04:49 UTC (00:49 local time). The epicenter was located of Drake Passage, at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.9 event, but later upgraded it to 5.1.

Quakes last week
In the past week, six tremors of magnitude 2.5 or higher have been recorded in the area, two of them larger than magnitude 6.1. The largest, measuring 7.6, occurred in the same region six days ago.
