HUALIEN CITY, Hualien County — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake shook near Hualien City Saturday morning.

It was reported that a tremor hit the region at 02:04 UTC (10:04 local time). The epicenter was located approximately 58 km east-northeast of Hualien City, at a depth of 40 km.
