Update: Earthquake of 5.0 magnitude detected near Drake Passage on Oct. 11

A 5.0 magnitude quake was recorded close to Drake Passage Saturday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor struck the area at 18:29 UTC (14:29 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter located of Drake Passage. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.1 but later downgraded to 5.0.
