Friday evening, a 5.1 magnitude quake was detected close to Santiago, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 12:49 UTC (20:49 local time), the region was struck by a tremor. The earthquake jolted at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter roughly 76 km east-southeast of Santiago.
