Update: Earthquake of 5.9 magnitude reported near Macquarie Island on Nov. 29

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.9 magnitude quake hit close to Macquarie Island Saturday afternoon.

The tremor, which jolted the area at 08:03 UTC (18:03 local time), was centered west of Macquarie Island. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
