The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.3 magnitude quake shook close to Vilyuchinsk Tuesday afternoon.

The tremor jolted at 04:47 UTC (15:47 local time), with its epicenter located about 116 km southeast of Vilyuchinsk and a depth of 39 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.0 but later upgraded to 5.3.
