Update: 5.1 magnitude earthquake hits near Pondaguitan, Philippines on June 17

DAVAO ORIENTAL, Davao Region — A 5.1 magnitude quake shook close to Pondaguitan at midday on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor jolted the area at 03:46 UTC (11:46 local time). It occurred at a depth of 35 km with the epicenter about 158 km east-southeast of Pondaguitan. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.0 but later upgraded to 5.1.
