A 5.3 magnitude quake was recorded near Ozernovskiy Wednesday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The tremor, which hit the area at 05:37 UTC (16:37 local time), was centered roughly 166 km east of Ozernovskiy. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.

Over the last week, six tremors of magnitude 5.5 or greater have been detected in the region. The largest one was a 5.7 earthquake that shook close to Vilyuchinsk prior to this quake.
