Update: Seismic activity on Jan. 3 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake close to Mid-Indian Ridge detected

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Mid-Indian Ridge Saturday morning.

It was reported that a tremor rattled the region at 22:03 UTC (03:03 local time). The epicenter was located of Mid-Indian Ridge, at a depth of 10 km.

Last week, one more magnitude 4.9 earthquake was recorded in the area, also occurring near Mid-Indian Ridge five days earlier.
