Update: 5.1 magnitude earthquake jolts near Toyoshina, Japan on Jan. 15

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.1 magnitude quake hit close to Toyoshina Thursday afternoon.

A tremor shook the area at 05:48 UTC (14:48 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located roughly 19 km west-southwest of Toyoshina and occurred at a depth of just 2 km.
