YAKUTAT CITY AND BOROUGH, AK — A 5.7 magnitude quake was recorded close to Yakutat Thursday night, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

A tremor hit the region at 6:46 a.m. (11:46 p.m. local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located roughly 69 miles north of Yakutat and occurred at a depth of just 3 miles. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.6 event, but later upgraded it to 5.7.
