An updated high surf advisory was released by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 7:24 a.m. valid from 3 p.m. until Saturday 11 a.m. for Ventura County Beaches.

The NWS says to prepare for, “Large breaking waves of 8 to 12 feet and dangerous rip currents.”

“There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore,” says the NWS. “Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly locations in such conditions, so stay off the rocks.”
