On Monday at 2:26 p.m. the National Weather Service released an updated heat advisory in effect until 8 p.m. for the Eastern Plains.
The NWS informs, “For northern El Paso county, 91 to 97. For southern El Paso county, 95 to 100. For eastern Fremont county, 100 to 103. For Pueblo county, 101 to 106. For the rest of the eastern plains withing the heat advisory, temperatures will be 104 to 109.”
“Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses,” explains the NWS.
The full list of affected locations includes:
• Canon City Vicinity/Eastern Fremont County
• Northern El Paso County/Monument Ridge/Rampart Range below 7,500 ft
• Colorado Springs Vicinity/Southern El Paso County/Rampart Range below 7,400 ft
• Pueblo Vicinity/Pueblo County below 6,300 feet
• La Junta Vicinity/Otero County
• Las Animas Vicinity/Bent County
• Lamar Vicinity/Prowers County

• For outdoor workers, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommends regular rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
