Fire weather watch in place for Southwest Colorado for Thursday, gusts may reach 45 mph

On Wednesday at 2:49 a.m. a fire weather watch was released by the National Weather Service valid for Thursday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. for Southwest Colorado Lower Forecast Area.

Expect winds to be southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph and relative humidity 10 to 15 percent.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” comments the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
