A tremor shook the area at 21:55 UTC (07:55 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was situated approximately 210 km south-southwest of Severo-Kuril’sk and occurred at a depth of 35 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.2 but later downgraded to 5.1.
