A 5.7 magnitude quake occurred close to Port-Vila on Tuesday around midday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which hit the area at 02:29 UTC (13:29 local time), was centered roughly 48 km south of Port-Vila. It occurred at a depth of 27 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.8 but later downgraded to 5.7.
