Update: 5.1 magnitude earthquake jolts close to Mid-Atlantic Ridge on July 29

A 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Mid-Atlantic Ridge on Wednesday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 18:09 UTC (15:09 local time). The epicenter was north of Mid-Atlantic Ridge, at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.9 event, but later upgraded it to 5.1.
