EL ARENAL, Jal. — A 5.2 magnitude quake occurred close to El Arenal on Friday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 16:15 UTC (10:15 local time). The epicenter was about 85 km southwest of El Arenal, at a depth of 10 km.

10 quakes with a magnitude 2.5 or greater have been registered in the region over the last week. The most significant was a 5.9 magnitude earthquake recorded near Brisas Barra de Suchiate on Jul. 27.
