VEROES, Yaracuy — A 7.2 magnitude quake slammed near San Felipe on Wednesday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The tremor, which struck the area at 22:04 UTC (18:04 local time), was centered approximately 21 km east-northeast of San Felipe. It occurred at a depth of 28 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 7.1 event, but later upgraded it to 7.2.
