A 5.8 magnitude quake occurred close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on Saturday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which struck the area at 03:49 UTC (14:49 local time), was centered about 156 km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It occurred at a depth of 35 km.
