Earthquake shakes area near Ende, Indonesia: 5.1 magnitude recorded on Aug. 15

A 5.1 magnitude quake occurred close to Ende on Saturday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 06:28 UTC (14:28 local time), a tremor struck the region at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter about 71 km north-northwest of Ende.

Tremors past week

Last week, the area has experienced 14 tremors of magnitude 2.5 or greater, two of them larger than magnitude 5.5. The largest, measuring 6.1, occurred in the same region on Aug. 15.
