Update: Earthquake measuring 5.1 strikes area near Yamada, Japan on April 20

A 5.1 magnitude quake jolted close to Yamada on Monday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

At 10:44 UTC (20:44 local time), a tremor shook the region at a depth of 35 km, with its epicenter about 135 km east of Yamada. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.0 but later upgraded to 5.1.

Over the last week, there have been three earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 or above centered nearby. The largest one was a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that slammed near Miyako prior to this quake.
