Update: June 18 – 5.1 magnitude earthquake detected close to central Mid-Atlantic Ridge

A 5.1 magnitude quake occurred close to central Mid-Atlantic Ridge on Thursday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

At 02:44 UTC (01:44 local time), a tremor jolted the region at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter of central Mid-Atlantic Ridge.

Last week’s tremor

One more quake with a magnitude 6.6 was recorded in the area. It too was registered close to central Mid-Atlantic Ridge on Jun. 17.
