Earthquake of magnitude 5.0 recorded near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia on July 30

A 5.0 magnitude quake was detected near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky around midday Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which rattled the area at 01:06 UTC (12:06 local time), was centered about 127 km southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It occurred at a depth of 32 km.
