Earthquake of magnitude 5.0 recorded close to Agats, Indonesia on Jan. 1

NDUGA REGENCY, Highland Papua — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Agats Thursday afternoon.

At 06:01 UTC (15:01 local time), the region was shaken by a tremor. The earthquake hit at a depth of 137 km, with its epicenter roughly 148 km north-northeast of Agats.
