Earthquake measuring 7.0 rocks area close to Severo-Kuril’sk, Russia on Aug. 3

Sunday afternoon, a 7.0 magnitude quake was recorded near Severo-Kuril’sk, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which struck the region at 05:37 UTC (16:37 local time), was centered approximately 120 km east of Severo-Kuril’sk. It occurred at a depth of 41 km.
