A 5.2 magnitude quake occurred near Shihezi on Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 21:44 UTC (03:44 local time), a tremor jolted the area at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter about 67 km south-southeast of Shihezi. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.3 event, but later downgraded it to 5.2.
