A 5.3 magnitude quake shook near Mid-Atlantic Ridge on Thursday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor struck at 20:21 UTC (19:21 local time), with its epicenter south of Mid-Atlantic Ridge and a depth of 10 km.

Two tremors closeby past week

In the past week, there have been two tremors above magnitude 2.5 centered in the same area. The largest, a 5.0 magnitude earthquake, rattled prior to this quake, while the other, measuring 4.8, hit on Jul. 16.
