A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Xunchang on Wednesday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor struck the area at 02:08 UTC (10:08 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter roughly 10 km northwest of Xunchang.

Past week’s quakes

In the past week, there have been two tremors greater than magnitude 2.5 centered in the region. The larger one was a 5.1 quake that was registered near Changning on Jul. 8. The other, of magnitude 4.6, was felt close to Yibin on Jul. 8.
