Update: Seismic activity on Sept. 23 – 5.1 magnitude earthquake near South Sandwich Islands region detected

A 5.1 magnitude quake was recorded near South Sandwich Islands region Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit the area at 05:36 UTC (03:36 local time). It occurred at a depth of 34 km with the epicenter situated of South Sandwich Islands region.
