Update: Sept. 23 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake registered close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Tuesday afternoon.

The tremor, which shook the area at 06:19 UTC (17:19 local time), was centered about 108 km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It occurred at a depth of 35 km.
