Update: July 31 – 5.1 magnitude earthquake recorded near Severo-Kuril’sk, Russia

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake jolted close to Severo-Kuril’sk at midday on Thursday.

The tremor struck at 02:29 UTC (12:29 local time), with its epicenter located roughly 90 km south of Severo-Kuril’sk and a depth of 53 km.
