A 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Buala around midnight Thursday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which hit the area at 13:42 UTC (00:42 local time), was centered approximately 106 km west of Buala. It occurred at a depth of 67 km.
