ALEUTIANS WEST CENSUS AREA, AK — A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Attu Station around midday Sunday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor shook the region at 11:20 p.m. (11:20 a.m. local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was approximately 149 miles east-southeast of Attu Station and occurred at a depth of 5 miles. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.
